Edge Structures have been appointed to provide client side structural engineering reviews and advice for the new 65,000 seat stadium at Basra, Iraq. Working as part of a consortium lead by Baker Wilkins Smith and AMBS, Edge Structures will review the design of the stadium superstructure together with that of an adjacent 15,000 seat stadium and report back to the ultimate client, the Ministry of Youth and Sport in Baghdad.

The stadium is the centrepiece of the 500m USD Basra Sports City project that is being constructed to host the 2013 Gulf Football Tournament and act as a catalyst for further development in the area.
